On Saturday, July 27, 2013, at 7:30 am more than a thousand runners will line up on College Street in downtown Asheville for the start of 34th running of the historic Bele Chere 5K.

The 2013 Bele Chere 5K Presented by Mission Health is one of the oldest and largest 5K road races in the region, registering over 1,400 runners in 2012. Race headquarters will again be in exciting Pack Square Park in the heart of vibrant downtown Asheville. The park stage area will be the site of the post-race celebration, including the finish of the Kid’s Fun Run and the awards ceremony.

The Bele Chere 5K is part of the Asheville Track Club’s 2013 Grand Prix Series.


Online registration is available at IMAthlete. Following are entry fees for the 2013 Bele Chere 5k:

  • Through May 31, 2013 – $25.
  • June 1 through July 26, 2013 – $30.
  • July 27, 2013 (race day) – $35.

Corporate Challenge:

We are also adding a corporate team challenge. Prizes and award formatting will be 4 person teams and individuals will run the entire 5k by themselves, but be part of a organized challenge team. The 5k starts at 7:30am!

Awards will be given for:

  • Fastest Competition (Awards for both individuals and teams)

  • Most Participants (company with the most employees registered)

  • Best-team spirit awards

  • Costume contests for best company ‘themed’ teams

CSS-7Kid’s Fun Run:

We are upping the ante for the kiddies’ fun run this year, and are excited to see what our athletes of tomorrow have to put on display. We encourage kids to wear costumes, and special awards will be given for them. The kid’s run is free, with an optional $12 tshirt, and registration for the event will be online as well. All young competitors will get  a finisher’s medal, not to mention memories that will last a lifetime. Kids fun run starts at 8:30am. 


The Asheville Track Club is thrilled to present the Asheville Track Club Triple Crown Series for 2013 which allows participants to register for all three Asheville Track Club races – The Ramble Run (12K or 5K) at Biltmore Park (May 11th), the 34th Bele Chere 5K (July 27th) and the Thomas Wolfe 8K (October 19th) – at one time and for a reduced rate.     Where is packet pickup and what time does race start?

      The race starts at 7:30 AM. Packet pickup details have not yet been announced, but they will be posted prominently on the website.

      The Fun Run is free. You can register for it online by clicking on the Registration link for the race. The Fun Run occurs after the 5k.
